Description

Kuang-hsü gold Proof Pattern Restrike "Kuping" 2 Mace Year 29 (1903)-Dated PR66 NGC, L&M-1020, cf. Kann-929 (for original silver issue), WS-0003, Wenchao-7 (rarity 5 stars) = Chang Foundation-3. Plain edge. Restruck from the original Osaka mint dies in Switzerland in the 1970's. A formidable gold production whose razor-sharp features are bathed in luminous aurous luster that embellishes crisp design motifs. An examination of the surfaces indicates a strike from original and subsequently polished dies, an observation that is confirmed by the faintest remnants of original die rust, visible under magnification. A true collector's coin, gem in appearance through and through, and the finest of a mere two Proof examples certified by NGC to date.
