Cowie Harbour Coal Co. 3-Piece Lot of Certified vulcanite Tokens ND (20th Century) PCGS, 1) green vulcanite 10 Cents Token - XF40, LaWe-Unl., SS-89 (RRR) 2) red vulcanite 25 Cents Token - AU53, LaWe-Unl., SS-Unl. 3) black vulcanite Dollar Token - AU53, LaWe-Unl., SS-Unl. A very rare group of Token issues from this prolific colliery, founded in 1905 and backed by the British North Borneo Chartered Company; the company is reported to have produced a record 87,543 tons of coal in 1922, before being largely put out of business due to the Great Depression. Saran Singh only knew of the 10 Cents Token at the time his book was published in 1996, with all types entirely undocumented by Lansen and Wells in 2000, suggesting the great rarity of these pieces.
