Description

ATTICA. Athens. Ca. 510/500-480 BC. AR light-weight specimen tetradrachm (23mm, 16.94 gm, 10h). NGC VF 5/5 - 4/5. Pre-Persian Class. Head of Athena right, hair in waved loops along brow line, wearing earring and crested Attic helmet, single spiral on bowl, the crest box decorated with chevron pattern; large pellet above / AΘΕ, owl standing right with closed wings, head facing; olive sprig with three branches, in right angle configuration divided by central branch, flanked by two smaller sprigs with single berry each behind, all within incuse square. HGC 4, 1589. Seltman Group L. Perfectly centered on both sides with magnificent full crest.
