Malaysia Bank Negara 1000 Ringgit ND (1976-81; 1968-76) Pick 18r1; 6/12/18 Uncut Pair of Remainders; Uncut Pair of Lithographic / Progressive Proofs PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ; PMG Holdered. The first design for Malaysia's $1000 banknote is one of the most desirable of all "modern era" types, thanks to its high face value, limited print totals, and almost exhaustive redemption in the late 1990s. This lot includes two large, uncut pieces. The first is an uncut pair of Remainders which lack serial numbers and signatures. Likewise, the pair is void of any cancellations, perforations, and notations, which enhances the visual appeal. The second uncut sheet is a Progressive or Lithographic Proof. Banknotes are created by layering colors and designs, and this sheet shows the color schemes and designs from one of those layers used to create the finished product. Each uncut sheet is perfectly original, and the Remainder pair is seen with EPQ status. At the time of cataloging, only 3 remainders are graded in the PMG Population Report, of those, this is the single finest. A coveted pair of rarities, seldom seen in this format, these offered notes are eminently collectible.
