Macau Banco Nacional Ultramarino 500 Patacas 16.11.1945 Pick 34cts KNB40CT Color Trial Specimen PMG Choice Uncirculated 64. Waterlow & Sons was tasked with creating and printing the 1945 banknote series for Macau, which is quite popular to collect today. This 500 Patacas is the highest denomination of that series, of which only 4,000 notes were supposedly printed. To date, only Specimen or other prototypes have been offered for sale in a traceable auction, which confirms the rarity of this note. This Color Trial displays purple hues instead of brown, which is curious. Red overprints on both sides are typical. An exceedingly rare type in any form, this is the first we have offered.
