Description

ATTICA. Athens. Ca. 510/500-480 BC. AR light-weight specimen tetradrachm (24mm, 16.92 gm, 2h). NGC VF 3/5 - 2/5, flan flaws. Head of Athena right, hair in straight braids along brow line, wearing crested Attic helmet, the crest box ornamented with chevron pattern, bowl decorated with single spiral / AΘΕ, owl standing right with closed wings, head facing; olive sprig with two leaves and berry behind, all within incuse square. HGC 4, 1590 (ca. 500/490-485/480 BC). Seltman Groups C, G and M.
