INDIA. Bengal Empire. Ca. AD 300-600. Imitating Kushan Empire Kanishka I (ca. AD 127-147). AV dinar (19mm, 12h). ANACS AU 50. Imitating main mint, Bactria (probably Balkh), late phase. PAONANOPAO KA-NhPKI KOPANO (corrupted legend), Kanishka standing facing, head left, wearing peaked Iranian cap with curved-pronged ornament on top, flames on shoulder, sacrificing over altar to left, scepter in left; dotted border beneath feet / NANAPAO (corrupted legend), Nanashao standing right, nimbate, with spiked hair, triple forked wand with lion protome in right hand; tamgha to right, dotted border. cf. ANS Kushan 380 for prototype. Fascinating imitation on matte flan.
