Description

Nicholas II Proof Rouble 1910-ЭБ PR66 Cameo NGC, St. Petersburg mint, KM-Y59.3 (unlisted in Proof), Bit-64 (R), Sev-4146, Uzd-2176. An exquisite Russian Proof, not least for its excessively scarce date, which is seldom found in any condition. Preserved at the peak of certified quality, to say that this specimen earns its incredibly impressive grade would be an understatement, as the piece boasts an effortless mirrored flash and a superb bloom of iridescent color that simply must be seen in hand to be fully appreciated. To the best of our knowledge, only a single other example in comparable condition (though lacking this coin's cameo designation) has appeared on the market in recent years, which brought the equivalent of $31,892 in May 2015, with the Sincona Collection specimen (un-graded, though similarly beautiful) achieving $37,000 in October 2013. Far outranking the next finest we've handled (a PR62) and beating out the Irving Goodman specimen (PR65) by a full grade point, we can only anticipate the fervor of bidding this coin will inspire.
