Description

Charles III gold 4 Escudos 1781 NG-P AU58 NGC, Nueva Guatemala mint, KM39, Fr-11, Cay-12672. An exceedingly scarce issue, rare in all conditional states, and exceptionally difficult to locate so near to Mint State condition. Glistening brilliance careens over the fields upon rotation, sparkling brightly from within the sharp legends, a hint of champagne tone overlying the surfaces and enhancing the presentation. The offering is the only representative of the 1781 issue to be certified by either NGC or PCGS to date, rendering it a clear contender for any high-end type collection of Latin American gold. One of only three dates produced for this type, which includes 1778, 1781, and 1783, all of which are rare.
