Description

Westphalia. Jerome Napoleon gold 20 Franken 1808-C MS66 NGC, Cassel mint, KM103, Fr-3517, D&S-218. Mintage: 13,450. A near-ideal type candidate hailing from the Napoleonic protectorate of Westphalia, ruled by Napoleon's brother Jerome. The quality is nothing less than exceptional, soft satiny luster endowing the fields with a striking luminosity, visible from every angle of inspection, while the King's portrait remains pleasingly sharp and graced with a subtle coating of enhancing golden frost. By far the finest example encountered by NGC to date, the nearest specimen achieving only an AU58 grade designation by comparison.
