East Africa East African Currency Board 1000 Shillings = 50 Pounds 15.12.1921 Pick 18s Specimen PMG Choice Uncirculated 64. King George V Currency notes from East Africa are scarce and desirable, but the ultra-high denomination notes are exceptionally difficult to obtain. At the time of cataloging, five issued notes and two Specimen are graded in the PMG Population Report. The color schemes and design elements are on full display, as this Specimen was preserved expertly. Hole punched cancellations and a perforated cancellation are mentioned for accuracy. This is only the second Specimen of this extremely scarce and very desirable type that we have offered. East African Currency Board records indicate that this type was mostly used for inter-bank transactions, and only 222 examples were not redeemed by the end of the British colonial period.
