THRACE. Maroneia. Ca. 410-385 BC. AR stater (23mm, 11.38 gm, 11h). NGC MS 5/5 - 3/5, Fine Style, scratches, brushed. Callicrateus, magistrate. Bridled horse prancing left, with loose reins; dog (Pomeranian?) standing left below with curled tail / EPI K-AΛΛ-ΙΚΡΑ-ΤΕΟΣ, legend around square linear frame enclosing vine with four grapes-clusters; all within incuse square. SNG Copenhagen 603. Lambros 1905. Schönert-Geiss 490 (V34/R59). Well struck from fantastically artistic dies on lustrous flan. From the Paramount Collection.
