Lactating lioness advancing left, lowered head facing / Two rectangular incuses divided by a narrow band. Linzalone 1173. Very rare - less than five examples in sales archives. Gleaming flan with areas of orange toning around the devices. From the Paramount Collection The lactating lioness as a numismatic type overall is extremely rare. The three other issues with similar imagery are a Phocaean standard electrum stater, showing lioness walking right, head reverted; a Milesian standard electrum stater with lioness reclining right; and a silver stater from Colchis with a maned lioness crouching right with head reverted.
