BRUTTIUM. Caulonia. Early 5th century BC. AR stater or nomos (29mm, 7.31 gm, 12h). NGC XF 4/5 - 3/5, brushed. Ca. 500-480 BC. KAVA (retrograde), full-length figure of Apollo, nude, advancing right, torso turned facing, olive branch in raised right hand, pursuing Daphne running right, transforming into laurel tree with branches as arms; stag standing right on second ground line, in right field, head reverted, guilloche border / KAVΛ (retrograde), incuse and reverse of obverse, with Apollo holding long branch filling right field and branch before; Θ in field between Apollo and stag; E retrograde, or retrograde digamma between Apollo's legs, striated border on incuse band.
