Waddell, June 1984 Countermark likely applied during the reign of Nero (AD 54-68), possibly in Gallia Lugdunensis. The mark stands for PROB(are), which was one of a series of denominational countermarks on Julio-Claudian sestertii, in this case marked approved/certified for value as a sestertius.
