Description

Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg. Friedrich I Medallic "Admission into the Pegnitzschafer Order" 1-1/2 Taler ND (1683-1688)-IGW AU58 NGC, Gotha mint, KM21 (2 taler), Dav-LS423 (same), Schnee-472. 32.44gm. Only the second example of this highly pleasing and heavily medallic multiple taler we have offered, featuring an inspiring level of detail generously lavished over its broad, lightly patinated surfaces. Presently the finest of only 3 certified, and a piece that invites attention. We note that the ribbon of dark color on the obverse is tone and not a flan imperfection as it may look in the photos.
