MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AV stater (18mm, 8.53 gm, 1h). NGC Choice AU 5/5 - 4/5. Late lifetime or early posthumous issue of Miletus, 323-319 BC. Head of Athena right, hair in six corkscrew curls with another over left shoulder, wearing pendant earring, necklace and triple-crested Corinthian helmet with long divergent crest ends pushed back on head, the bowl decorated with coiled serpent right / AΛEΞANΔPOY, Nike standing facing, head left, wreath in outstretched right hand, stylis cradled in left arm; HK monogram in left field, bipennis in lower right field under wing. Price 2114. Excellent strike and centering with bright surfaces.
