Description

Vittorio Emanuele III gold 100 Lire 1905-R MS62 PCGS, Rome mint, KM39, Fr-22. Mintage: 1,012. Essentially Prooflike in appearance, with amply frosted devices contrasting clearly against mirrorlike fields, this alluring 100 Lire represents an issue that is only rarely offered on auction in this technical caliber. Only 30 examples are certified across both PCGS and NGC to date, and of these only a single specimen ranks conditionally finer (at MS63) than this very nearly choice offering. Light ticks in the fields prevent a finer grade, yet the absence of any larger distractions means that this offering very nearly presents better than what is implied by its "MS62" grade, its flashy and reflective finish only further enhanced by precision-struck detail evident across every facet of the central designs.
