Description

Prince George 5 Drachmai 1901-(a) MS64 NGC, Paris mint, KM9, Dav-118, Divo-130, Karamitsos-C11. A type that one simply never sees in so impressive a conditional state as this. The absolute finest example of the type certified across the combined PCGS and NGC censuses, this exceptional near-gem fields shimmering silvery luster, bound by a soft edge tone revealing touches of blue iridescence. When the specimen was previously offered as part of the Lissner collection in 2014, the cataloger noted that the coin is "probably the finest known example". More than six years later we can similarly state that we have never an example of the type that exhibits the preservation and sheer quality of this "wonder coin", nor are we aware of any that might exist. Ex. R.L. Lissner Collection (CNG-St. James's Auction 29, August 2014, Lot 147)
