Description

Canada Bank of Canada $10; $500; $1000 2.1.1935; ND; ND BC-7; BC-17; BC-19 Matted Proof Trio About Uncirculated (3). Three interesting trial Proofs are seen in this lot. Curiously, the portraits on these Proofs differ from those assigned to the issued note. Princess Elizabeth is seen on this $10, which will eventually featured Princess Mary, and the $500 and $1000 would swap portraits on the issued banknotes. Curious and quite rare. Printer notations indicate that these trials were prepared the year before the Bank of Canada unveiled its first series of banknotes. The first we have offered with this interesting portrait orientation.
