Japan Greater Japan Imperial National Bank, Tokyo 2 Yen ND (1873) Pick 11 PMG Very Fine 25. An important and scarce 19th century offering, desirable in any grade. The 2 Yen denomination features two 14th century warriors at front: Kojima Takanori and Nitta Yoshisada. The back has a superb engraving of the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. All banknotes from the 1873 series were printed in New York by the Continental Banknote Company. Of note, this example was issued via Tokyo, as indicated by the red overprints on each side. Minor restoration is mentioned for accuracy on this otherwise pleasant banknote.
