The People's Bank of China issued many denominations and designs throughout a variety of series beginning in 1948. This high denomination is from the very first issue, and is scarce today in any grade. We have only offered this type a handful of times, as extant examples are few and far between. Problem-free, brief circulation is seen on this otherwise excellent banknote. Curiously, this design has a much more prominent horizontal shape compared to the other banknotes in the series.
