Charles X gold "Privy Council of French Colonies" Medal 1827 MS61 NGC, Lec-318a. 45mm. 85.89gm. By Michaut. Produced in honor of the French Colonial Privy Council. The obverse depicts Charles as King of France, dressed in robe and with full regalia, holding a colonial charter with his left hand and scepter with his right. Highly detailed and offering a pleasing cameo effect between the frosted devices and mirrored fields. Very rare in this metal, with Lecompte noting only four examples known in gold.
