India Bank of Bengal, Calcutta 20 Sicca Rupees ND (ca.1827-36) Pick UNL Uniface Proof. This rare front Proof appears to be from either the 1927-29 issue (Pick S40A) or the 1828-36 issue (Pick S52) of the early Bank of Bengal series. Any numismatic item from this bank is a prize, as very few items are extant today. Repair of tears and missing pieces have been executed on this Proof. Nevertheless, this is a rare note and especially desirable with such a low opening bid and estimate. There will be no returns on this lot for any reason.
