French Afars & Issas Tresor Public 500 Francs ND (1973) Pick 31 PMG Superb Gem Unc 67 EPQ. A technically "Superb" offering from a short lived transitional series, examples are rarely seen today in this grade. The Territory of Afars & Issas voted in 1977 to be independent from France, and the name of the country was changed to Djibouti. A new series of banknotes was prepared as such, leaving these colonial types to be redeemed. No finer graded examples are present in the PMG Population Report at the time of cataloging.
