Established in London in 1851, the first Australian branches of the Oriental Bank Corporation opened the following year. Note issues were suspended in 1884 and the Australian business was closed in 1892. This attractive large format £1 features a crowned maiden flanked by lions, the royal coat of arms, and a large green ONE protector. The note is perforated SPECIMEN / BW&Co / LONDON.
