George III gold 1/4 Guinea 1762 MS66 NGC, KM592, S-3741. Notable as a one-year type (Quarter Guineas were only struck in two years, this and 1718), and conditionally rare at the gem grade level. Due to the issues facing coinage in Britain in the late 18th century, Quarter Guineas were desperately needed to counteract the dearth of silver in circulation and as such they generally exhibit strong evidence of circulation. This offering is incredibly fresh, showcasing crisp highpoint detail and lustrous surfaces throughout. Currently the finest-certified example between both NGC and PCGS.
