Charles II silver Specimen "Marriage to Catherine of Braganza" Medal ND (1662) SP62 PCGS, MI-489/110, Van Loon-II-471. By John Roettiers. On the Royal Marriage of 21 May 1662. A type that, when available, frequently displays evidence of graffiti or heavy damage. The present example is thus an impressive survivor, displaying unusually whole surfaces that have somehow remained in uncirculated condition. For the sake of completion, a scratch upon the obverse right field and lower lip must be noted; however, in comparison to the usual damage, this is relatively inconsequential. The horizontal scratch that appears upon the hairline of the Queen in our photographs is a stress flaw in the plastic slab, and not a disturbance to the surface of the piece.
