Description

British Colony. George III Counterstamped 6 Shilling 1 Penny ND (1818-1820) MS62 NGC, KM1.3, Prid-1 (different host). Displaying crowned GR within square counterstamp on a Ferdinand VII 8 Reales 1818 Mo-JJ from Mexico (cf. KM111). An already scarce type that escalates to an entirely new tier of rarity in this simply unheard state, the counterstamped coinage of British Honduras almost universally coming circulated and cleaned, with the next finest in the NGC census being an XF45. Purportedly stamped by merchants of the Commissariat to trade with indigenous tribes according to Pridmore, the condition-minded collector could hardly desire a nicer specimen.
