An impressive representative of the rare Special Series of 1816 type, demonstrating the characteristic obverse legend ending in "REG" rather than "REGENS". Lightly circulated, though with a definite golden sheen pervading over the surfaces, particularly pronounced around the reverse shield, where, if the coin were evaluated alone, one might think it to be Mint State. A fullness of detail over the devices, extending in equal part to João's portrait and the shield motif, render this offering one not to be missed by the specialist collector seeking to fill a likely type gap in their collection.
