Kwangtung. Republic gold Restrike Pattern 20 Cents Year 13 (1924) AU58 NGC, KM-Pn23, L&M-Unl., Kann-Unl., WS-Unl., Wenchao-Unl. An exceptionally rare gold off-metal strike, perhaps produced as some sort of special presentation piece, as suggested in the original Wayte Raymond catalog listing. This is only the third example we have been able to locate coming to auction in over a decade, last becoming available in 2011 as part of the famous Chin Family Collection, suggesting that the current offering may represent the only opportunity the majority of collectors will have to obtain a specimen for their collection. For the sake of completeness we note that some scratching exists in the obverse fields, likely being all that keeps the coin from a Mint State certification. Ex.
