Anhwei. Kuang-hsü Dollar Year 24 (1898) MS62 PCGS, Anking mint, KM-Y45.2, L&M-204, Kann-53a. Variety with small obverse rosettes. A standout representative of this scarce provincial issue, featuring a blanket of soft silver toning that covers the fields, lending a strong visual appeal which arguably seems outsized for the assigned grade. Though light friction can be discerned atop isolated points of the devices, the overall detailing is sharp, even in the sometimes weaker peripheral regions, with the fields showing only faint signs of handling, none of which feel anything beyond minimally distracting in hand. A lovely selection in every sense, and one likely to appeal to even the more conditionally discriminating collector.
