temp. King Shwebo Min "Hantha Bird" Standard or Opium Weight of 497 Kyat ND (1837-1846) XF, cf. Mitch-pg. 365 (this weight unlisted), Opitz-pp. 376-377 (same), Robinson/Shaw-pg. 32, 10 (same). Height: 222mm. 8101.16gm (17.86 lbs). Hexagonal base. An extremely imposing and most unusual example of the usually rather common "Hantha Bird" type weight, seemingly entirely unpublished at this very large size, with the heaviest weight noted by Robinson and Shaw being 250 Kyat (measuring the Kyat at 16.3gm). Similarly entirely unlike any of the pieces we encountered in the Charles Opitz collection, it is almost certainly of the highest rarity, and may be among the more unofficially sanctioned pieces mentioned by Robinson and Shaw. Aged to deep brown with hard green apple patina, and worthy of a premium bid.
