CALABRIA. Tarentum. Ca. 240-228 BC. AR didrachm or stater (19mm, 6.58 gm, 5h). NGC MS 4/5 - 4/5, brushed. Philocles, Phars- and Le-, magistrates. Nude jockey riding horse walking right, reins in left hand, crowning horse with wreath in right; ΘΑΡΣ monogram to left, ΛΕ monogram to right, ΦΙΛΟ/ΚΛΗΣ above dolphin swimming right below / ΤΑΡΑΣ, Taras astride dolphin left, rhyton in outstretched right hand, ornamental trident in left; two highly elaborate amphoras with lids on stands in right field.
