Description

ATTICA. Athens. Ca. 2nd-1st centuries BC. AR tetradrachm (30mm, 16.64 gm, 12h). NGC AU 5/5 - 4/5. New Style coinage, ca. 110/9 BC. Zoilos, Euandros and Tiomicra-, magistrates. Head of Athena right wearing triple-crested Attic helmet, ornamented with leaping Pegasus above upturned cheek flap, vine scroll on bowl, protomes of four horses on visor / A-ΘE / ZΩI-ΛOΣ / EYAN/ΔPOΣ / TIOMI/KPA, owl standing right on horizontal amphora inscribed with H (8th month); bee in right field, ME (engraver's initials) below, all within wreath. cf. Thompson 714i (unlisted with ME).
