George V gold Sovereign 1926-S MS64 PCGS, Sydney mint, KM29, S-4003, Marsh-286 (R4). Despite just over 1 million examples of this date being struck, the majority of this number were used for war debt repayments and subsequently melted. Accordingly, the 1926-S Sovereign is one of the hardest Australian types to find, particularly so well-preserved as this charming near-gem offering. Scarcely handled with abundant mint bloom, struck definitively so as to fully render the devices, only a minor patch of weakness to the highpoints of St. George's chest (as is usual for issue). An extreme rarity of the Sovereign series, sure to elicit significant attention from high-tier collectors. From the Caranett Collection of Sovereigns - #1 PCGS Registry Sets
