MACEDONIAN KINGDOM. Alexander III the Great (336-323 BC). AV stater (18mm, 8.59 gm, 11h). NGC Choice AU 5/5 - 4/5. Lifetime issue of Lampsacus, under Calas or Demarchus, ca. 328/5-323 BC. Head of Athena right, wearing pendant earring, double necklace and triple-crested Corinthian helmet with long divergent crest ends pushed back on head, the bowl decorated with coiled serpent right, hair falling straight in four tight curls and across left shoulder / AΛEΞANΔPOY, Nike standing facing, head left, wreath in outstretched right hand, stylis cradled in left arm; conjoined foreparts of two horses in outer left field, ΔIO monogram under wing to left.
