Description
Turkey - Muhammad V (1909-1918) - Probably steel upper unit of an embossing press with the incuse “toughra”, the signature of the sultan. Such embossing presses were used for legalising documents with a dry seal. Steel block 40 x 45.5 x 13 mm., weight 179.64 g., marked in the right upper and lower corner with resp. H and B. and on the bottom side with ‘LE SULTAN’. In very fine state of preservation (ZENO 319489)
