China /Empire - 1 Kuan 1368-1399 (P. AA10 / S/M #T36-20) - Black with 2 red square seal handstamps. 10 Strings cash coins at center. A surviving example from the Ming Dynasty. Under the reign of the Hongwu Emperor these early banknotes were printed on relatively soft and weak mulberry paper and colored with charcoal making preservation difficult during this early era. The red "anti-counterfeit" overprint is week but still slightly visible on the back of this example - several holes and minor damage - G/VG
