Attica, Athens. Silver Tetradrachm (17.14g), ca. 440-404 BC. Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet ornamented with laurel leaves and vine. Reverse: AΘE, owl standing right, head facing, olive sprig and crescent moon behind; all within incuse square. HGC 4, 1597; SNG Cop. 31-40; Kroll 8. Boldly struck in high relief on a nice compact flan. Light silver-gray tone with traces of mint luster present. NGC graded AU; Strike 5/5, Surface 3/5, brushed (not obvious).
