Probus (276-282 AD) Antoninian, Lugdunum RIC V.2 describes incorrectly the figure on the reverse as 'soldier' however on this exceptionally well preserved and struck specimen one can clearly see a bare breast of the figure - which is the attribute of the amazons. The personification of Virtus was often depicted as an amazon in the Roman coinage.   Perfect mint condition with full original silvering and mint luster and absolutely stunning details (especially for Lugdunum mint standards where worn reverse dies were frequently used). Exceedingly rare in such an exceptional state! One of the best preserved Probus coins of this collection.  Obverse: IMP C PROBVS•P•F•AVG Radiate, cuirassed bust right

Bilon, diameter 22,7 mm, weight 3,91 g.  RIC V.2 błędnie określa postać na rewersie jako 'żołnierza', jednak na tym wyjątkowo dobrze zachowanym i wybitym egzemplarzu wyraźnie widać gołą pierś, która jest atrybutem amazonek. Personifikacja Virtus była zresztą często przedstawiana jako amazonka w mennictwie rzymskim.   Perfekcyjny, menniczy egzemplarz z pełnym srebrzeniem powierzchniowym i blaskiem menniczym. Wyjątkowo dobrze i głęboko wybity, z rewelacyjnymi wręcz detalami (zwłaszcza jak na standardy mennicy Lugdunum, w której rewersy często bite były 'zmęczonymi' stemplami). Ekstremalnie rzadka w tak rewelacyjnym stanie!
