Aurelian (270-275 AD) Antoninian, Serdica - ex. Philippe Gysen Extremely rare obverse legend with the much diserable INVICTVS (invincible) title. The variant with additional P[ivs] F[elix] in title is much, much rarer than the INVICTVS obverse legend without the P[ivs] F[elix] title. Aurelian was the first Roman emperor to introduce the Invictvs title in regular coinage. Prof. Estiot only cites 3 examles of this variant. Issue: 8.2 (November 274 – September 275)
Obverse: IMP C AVRELIANVS INVICTVS P F AVG Radiate, cuirassed bust right. Reverse: RESTITVT ORBIS / * / KAB Emperor Togate standing right, holding long sceptre, receiving laurel wreath from the hand of Concordia standing left.
Bilon, diameter 21,7 x 22,7 mm, weight 3,65 g.
