Description

Probus (276-282) Antoninian, Lugdunum - Military bust Military bust of the finest style, with a beautiful decorated shield, spear, pseudo attic helmet and balteus across the cuirass. One of the finest known examples of this particular type! All military busts from Lugdunum struck only during the 5th emmission celebrating Probus' return through Lugdunum after his battles in Gaul, including this spectacular bust, are rare and very sought-after by collectors.
Obverse: IMP C M AVR PROBVS AVG Radiate, cuirassed and helmeted (pseudo attic helmet) bust left, holding spear and shield decorated with emperor on horse. Reverse: TEMPOR FELICI / I Felicitas standing right, holding caduceus and cornucopiae. Bilon, diameter 22,3 x 21,6 mm, weight 3,38 g. 
Rzadki typ popiersia, celebrujący powrót cesarza do Lugdunum po zwycięstwach w Galii. Moneta bez śladów srebrzenia, ale z pięknie zachowanym, nieobiegowym detalem.  Awers: Popiersie cesarza w hełmie z koroną promienistą i w zbroi, w lewo, trzymające włócznię i tarczę udekorowaną cesarzem na koniu, w otoku legenda IMP C M AVR PROBVS AVG Rewers: Felicitas stojąca w prawo, trzymająca kaduceusz i róg obfitości, w odcinku I, w otoku legenda TEMPOR FELICI Srebro bilonowe, średnica 22,3 x 21,6 mm, waga 3,38 g.  Reference: RIC 103, Bastien 206 (9 ex. cited)
