Description

Australia: very rare set of 2 SPECIMEN Banknotes 100 Dollars 1984 P. 48s, Rennick SP28, both with zero serial numbers, red Specimen overprint. This unique pair has the Reserve Bank of Australia Official Presentation Letter from the secretary of the Reserve Bank to Dr. H. C. Coombs included, the most famous and longest serving Governor of the Reserve Bank from 1949 to 1968. He served both Labour & Liberal Governments and transformed the bank into a world leader. He had strong ties to the Bank of England. Specimen notes were always presented singly, to receive a pair was a singular honor to the recipient. Only two other letters are known presenting this 100 Dollars note to other recipients. The notes specimen numbers 0020 and 0520, signed Johnston-Stone. Together with folder of the Reserve Bank of Australia in which the letter and the notes were presented. Really rare item of australians banknote history. Price in Rennicks catalog is for each note in UNC catalog of A $ 52,500. Both notes in condition: UNC. (2 pcs)
