Description

Nigeria: Highly rare and hard to get presentation book of ”The Central Bank of Nigeria” for its 20th anniversary containing the paper money history of the country from 1959-1979. The green leather book has contains 12 double pages for presenting its banknotes as Specimens. It starts with an introduction followed by 4 pages of notes issued in 1959 (Pick 2, 3, 4, 5) but attention: the first 4 notes are copies produced by the Central Bank itself. This 1959 issue is follwed by the presentation of 16 REAL banknote specimens glued on the pages. Each note is shown from the front and the back. It starts with 5 Shillings 1965 Specimen P. 6s followed by 10 Shillings, 1 Pound, 5 Pounds Specimen P. 7s, 8s, 9s (these ones with normal serial numbers and ”Specimen” overprints on both sides. Further there is the complete issue of 1968 containing 5, 10 Shillings, 1 and 5 Pounds 1968 as Specimen with normal serial number P. 10s, 11s, 12s, 13s. The next series shown is the 1973s series containing 50 Kobo, 1 Naira, 5 Naira, 10 Naira 1973 all with ZERO serial numbers and red specimen overprints P. 14s, 15s, 16s, 17s followed by 20 Naira 1977 Specimen with zero serial numbers P. 18s and 1 Naira, 5 Naira 10 Naira 1979 Specimen with zero serial numbers P. 23s, 24s, 25s. A highly rare book which was surely issued in only very limited edition and only handed out to officials of the bank. Great addition to any collection.
