Description

★ Rare and desirable dynastic issue ★

Caracalla, AD 199-200. Rome. Silver Denarius (18 mm, 2.69 g.). ANTONINVS AVGVSTVS, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Caracalla to right. Rev. P SEPT GETA CAES PONT, bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Geta to right. RIC 38; RSC 2. An insignificant tiny crack, otherwise, good very fine. Sharply struck with clear and excellently well defined portraits. Rare and desirable dynastic issue of the two brothers from the Severan dynasty, who became irreconcilable enemies, which, as a result of their aspirations for sole power, led to the assassination of Geta.
