Attika. Athens, 124-123 BC. ‘New Style’ Coinage. AR Tetradrachm (28.3 mm, 15.94 g.). Mikion, Eurikles, and Askle(pios?), magistrates. Helmeted head of Athena to right. Rev. AΘE, owl, with head facing, standing right on overturned amphora; three magistrates’ names in fields: ΜΙΚ-ΙΩN / EYP-YKΛE / AΣKΛH-; to right, Dioskouroi to left; on amphora, Δ; below amphora, MH (= contractor’s initials); all within laurel wreath. HGC 4, 1602; Thompson 480b. Very fine.
