Seleukid Kingdom, Demetrios I Soter, 162-150 BC. AR Tetradrachm (32 mm, 16,74 g.). Antioch on the Orontes mint, circa 162-155/4 BC. Diademed head of Demetrios I to right; all within wreath. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ Tyche seated left on throne with tritoness support, holding scepter in left hand and cornucopia in right; in exergue, monogram of HP. SC 1638.2d. Almost extremely fine, struck in high reliefwith an impressive style of the portrait of fine hellenistic style of the ruler, slightly resembling the characteristics and determination of young Herakles. Lovely tonning with yellowish minting hues.
