★ Curious inscription: ΟΛΟΦΩΝΙΟΝ ★

Ionia, Kolophon, circa 450-410 BC. AR Fourée Drachm, Persic standart (15mm, 4,46 g.). Laureate head of Apollo right. Rev. ΟΛΟΦΩΝΙΟΝ, Kithara within incuse square Milne, Colophon 44; SNG Kayhan 367. Good very fine for a Fourée coin, therefore a minor area over the edge below the neck missing the silver surface , attractively toned with a fine classical style portrait. Despite the present example is a fourée is a rare type without K at the beggining of the city name ΚΟΛΟΦΩΝΙΟΝ.
