Brutus. 42 BC. AR Denarius (18,5 mm, 3,84 g.). Military mint traveling with Brutus and Cassius in western Asia Minor or northern Greece. P. Servilius Casca Longus, moneyer. CASCA behind, LONGVS before, laureate and bearded head of Neptune right; trident below. Rev. BRVTVS behind, IMP before, Victory advancing right on broken scepter, holding palm frond in left hand over left shoulder and broken diadem bound with fillet in both hands. Crawford 507/2; CRI 212; Sydenham 1298; 63-65; RSC 3. Somewhat chopped on the surfaces, otherwise strong portrait of Neptune very detailed image of Victory and nicely toned. Good Very Fine. Rare.
